Something very strange is happening over here in Blighty. The sun is out! It’s only April and today was apparently the hottest April day since 1949 (we always get told the exact date when it’s the hottest/wettest/coldest in the UK. We’re all weather obsessed!) People have already stripped down to shorts and vests. Lily white skin is out on show and, unlike Australia, no thought is given to the application of Sun Factor 50.
The daffodils are out, the May trees are already blossoming and swathes of primroses are appearing in the parks and gardens.
We know it’s going to be over as soon as it came. By the end of the week, sunburnt skin will be covered up and warm clothes will be out again.
As my nan used to say, ‘Ne’er cast a clout till May is out!’
Factor 50 on, hat on. So pleased that the sun followed you to the UK. Ralph and I off to Lisbon next week – arranged prior to tearing my medial collateral ligament. May require a taxi or two! Looking forward to reading your sailing adventures.
