Moving North.

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind since we got back to Australia. Our unit sold in a week so suddenly we had to removed our furniture from the garage and find somewhere to put it.   We can no longer afford to live in Sydney without working and have decided to move to Queensland so, a couple of weeks after getting back, we were on a road trip North. A week up there made us realise that it might take a little longer to find a place we wanted to buy so we’ve rented a house in Scarborough on the Redcliffe Peninsula just above Brisbane on the coast.

Back in Sydney we then had to empty Matilda ready for selling. We had put enough stuff on her to last three years and Andy B had added a bit more so it took many trips in the dinghy to the car and then to the garage which ended up bursting at the seams.   We have now moved it all to Brisbane where we are throwing most of it away!

We did manage a couple of nights on Matilda on her mooring in Pittwater. It would have been fantastic to keep her and sail the East coast of Australia but not to be this time. We were pretty sad looking back at her as we left on the last trip in the dinghy. We’d planned such an amazing adventure on her which we weren’t able to do. That night, though, I was reading a blog written by another myeloma sufferer who always manages to come up with an inspirational quote. This time it was one of Dr Seuss’.

Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.

Catching up with Andy Berg after he brought Matilda home.  We can never thank him enough.

A memento of Andy’s trip.  Judging by the Disco ball and the mojito maker he left behind, Matilda was the party boat!
